Winkels Electric has been a local, family owned business serving the Rochester, MN area ever since it was founded in 1956 by John J Winkels. He started the business working out of his garage with 1 other employee. They had a couple service trucks and did mainly service calls, small jobs and appliance repair. In 1981 his son, John H Winkels and his wife Sheila, purchased the company and are the current Owners. Several of John J Winkels other sons (brothers of John H Winkels) also worked as Electricians at Winkels Electric over the years but have since retired. (Tim J, Dean & Dick). John H Winkels sons, Tim M Winkels and Dan Winkels also work at the company. A large part of the business today is still Residential and Commercial Service Call work, however, the company has grown and now also does larger Commercial & Residential projects of all kinds, New Construction, Additions and Remodels. The company is also involved with underground wiring and trenching and installs traffic signal systems. Parking lot lighting, sign installation and sign repair is another large part of the work the company specializes in. Winkels Electric has always been a smaller company dedicated to serving its loyal customers. We thank everyone who has used our services over the years.
